For several years, The St. James Tearoom has created one-of-a-kind, non-alcoholic tea shots for Special Events, blending concentrated tea with flavored syrups for a small, yet thrilling treat. In honor of our menu “Recipes from the World of Wizards,” we have concocted a special brew to transport you to that magical realm! Our own St. James House Butter’d Beere brings you the taste of golden caramel topped with whipped cream and is sure to put a twinkle in the eye of any wizard.
Layering the tea shot like this not only gives it the distinctive look of a “head,” but it also hearkens back to the Olde Worlde tradition of pousse-café so popular around the turn of the 19th century. These after-dinner drinks were not only a sweet finish to the evening, but beautiful to behold, concocted of layer upon layer of liquor, liqueur, and syrup. The sweet tea shot is enhanced, yet mellowed by sipping it through the layer of cream.
