Coming to Afternoon Tea

Ornate, symmetrical divider with loops and swirls in light brown, featuring small circular accents at each end, used for decorative separation in documents or invitations.
Two women sit together indoors, smiling and laughing. One wears a white sweater and necklace; the other holds a cup and wears a dark top. The background has papers or pages on the wall.

Come away to a place where beauty reigns, relationships deepen, and lives flourish.

Whether you are looking for a unique fine dining experience, Albuquerque’s most romantic restaurant, a beautiful celebration venue, or a relaxing atmosphere to meet a friend, The St. James Tearoom provides you with two hours of comfortable elegance in which the hectic pace of the world melts away.

Delve into conversation and the joy of those shared moments that draw us closer to one another, all during a full afternoon tea, seated in your own, private parlor area. With a different theme and menu served each month, every visit is something new to share with someone dear.

What is Afternoon Tea?

Ornate, symmetrical divider with loops and swirls in light brown, featuring small circular accents at each end, used for decorative separation in documents or invitations.

The Experience

Served on the elegant three-tiered tray, afternoon tea is a full meal which includes savories and tea sandwiches, scones and breads, and a variety of sweets, all handmade on site by our chefs. Our St. James Traditional Cream Scones never miss an appearance on a menu, and a traditional, but unique, tea sandwich is a delightful essential.

The Food is Its Own Experience at Afternoon Tea

The food is truly indulgent: sweet pastry crusts, butter-rich scones served with our homemade lemon curd and clotted cream. The dainty morsels are rich, but meant to chasten the appetite, not conquer it. This rich fare is balanced by the equally traditional sandwich with a slice of cucumber or sprig of watercress. All together, it creates a truly unique dining experience.

Afternoon tea is a resplendent affair, reflecting a more serene and gracious age. It is meant to be enjoyed slowly, savoring each bite, each sip. It is a comfort, an indulgence, a sweet respite from our work-a-day busyness.

A tiered tray of assorted pastries and sandwiches is set on a table with teacups. Two people sit across from each other, one wearing a black hat, holding hands beside the tea set.

“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.”
