Creating a Daily Tea Wellness Routine

Creating a Daily Tea Wellness Routine

By The St. James Tearoom

When it comes to the art of tea, there are many ways that it can benefit your health routine, which is why many choose to create a daily routine involving tea. As one of the leading Albuquerque fine dining tea rooms and tea shops online, St. James Tearoom has collected some ways to get you inspired here, so read on!

Healthy for your Heart, and Healthy for your “Heart”

The polyphenols, antioxidants, flavonoids, and l-theanine present in tea are incredibly healthy for your heart, your digestion, your blood pressure, and reducing inflammation everywhere in your body. Tea has one of the highest concentrations of these elements, and the more you drink it, the more health benefits you get!  But slowing down, being mindful of the beauty in the present, and grateful for the moment also is good for your “heart” and your mind moving forward.

Your Morning Tea Ritual

Nearly every tea drinker will probably want to begin their daily tea wellness routine with a morning tea ritual. You may be one who needs a caffeinated pick-me-up in the morning, (we certainly do!) which English Breakfast Black Tea, Indian Assam, or a stiff Earl Grey is ideal (of which we have three different blends!) However, there are also a variety of other teas, like green tea or herbal tea, that can offer a smoother ride into the morning.

Afternoon Pick-Me-Up

Taking a short tea break after lunch isn’t just a tradition, it’s also a great way to avoid feeling sluggish after eating your midday meal. Getting sleepy during the hours of 1-3 p.m. is a natural response in the body, so don’t be surprised if you need a little jumpstart. Though a digestive afternoon tea with herbs like chamomile, cinnamon, and even cacao greatly helps digestion, they can still make you feel a little sluggish.

We suggest any normal green tea which will still pick you up as your digest your food, (it still has a little caffeine), and still help keep you attentive as you go into your afternoon.  We suggest our “Charlestion Green” (which has elements of walnuts), our pure Chinese “Dragonwell,” or our “Matcha iri Genmaicha” which combines pure green tea with roasted rice which is exceptionally soothing after a meal, but still has a little caffeine for a pick-me-up.

Evening Relaxation

Drinking a hot, steaming cup of tea is a prime way to relax after a long, stressful day. This is where herbal teas shine.  Herbs like chamomile, cinnamon, fruit flavors like apple, lemongrass, and other teas will be both relaxing and aromatic.  We suggest “Lemon Souffle,” “Harvest Apple Chamomile,” “Persian Melon White” or a host of other fabulous white, herbal, and tisane teas, all of which can be found on our Online Teashop.
