Sparkling Sugar Plum

A tart plum, sweetened and with a touch of spice, sparkling like a jewel―imagine such a gem melted into a black tea and ready to be enjoyed on a winter evening. As it truly does sparkle in the cup, it can take white sugar, but milk will cloud your sparkle.

Steeping Directions

Learn how to make “Sparkling Sugar Plum” to enjoy at home!

  • Basic
  • Connoisseur

Basic

 water at a rolling boil (~212° F)

 1 tsp tea leaves per 6 oz. water (standard teacup)

 ~ 5 minutes: Drain tea strainer, serve, and enjoy!

 white sugar will complement, but milk is not recommended as it will hide the gold sparkles in this tea

Tea Tip: For fullest flavor, use a tea strainer with enough room to allow the tea leaves to open as they steep.

Connoisseur

 water at a rolling boil (~212° F)

 1 1⁄2 heaping Tbsp tea leaves (32 oz. water / medium-sized teapot)
2 heaping Tbsp tea leaves (48 oz. water / large-sized teapot)

 ~ 2 1 ⁄2 minutes: pause timer, drain tea strainer, return, continue steeping

 ~ 4 1 ⁄2 minutes: start tasting every 15 seconds, steeping to your preference

 ~ 5 minutes: recommended steep time for “Sparkling Sugar Plum.” Drain tea strainer, serve, and enjoy!

 white sugar will complement, but milk is not recommended as it will hide the sparkles in this tea

Tea Tip: Taste by pouring only a quarter inch of tea into the cup.
