Charleston Green
A lovely tea to look at, this green tea is blended with walnut halves and almond slices, which afford it the warm flavors initially discovered, only then to surprise one with the sweet tropical fruit notes in its finish. This tea is nicely coupled with either white or brown sugar, and is sure to convey tranquility into even the most unlikely of circumstances.
Steeping Directions
Learn how to make “Charleston Green” to enjoy at home!
Basic
water at a simmer (~180-190° F)
1 tsp tea leaves per 6 oz. water (standard teacup)
~ 5 minutes: Drain tea strainer, serve, and enjoy!
white or brown sugar will complement, but this tea does not take milk
Tea Tip: For fullest flavor, use a tea strainer with enough room to allow the tea leaves to open as they steep.
Iced
water at a simmer (~180-190° F)
5 Tbsp tea leaves (2 qt. pitcher)
~ 5 minutes: Drain tea strainer
brown sugar to sweeten, stirred in while hot
Chill and/or add ice cubes, serve, and enjoy!
Tea Tip: To avoid diluting your iced tea, make the ice cubes out of the tea you are preparing!
Connoisseur
water at a simmer (~180-190° F)
1 3⁄4 heaping Tbsp tea leaves (32 oz. water / medium-sized teapot)
2 1⁄4 heaping Tbsp tea leaves (48 oz. water / large-sized teapot)
~ 2 1 ⁄2 minutes: pause timer, drain tea strainer, return, continue steeping
~ 4 1 ⁄2 minutes: start tasting every 15 seconds, steeping to your preference
~ 5 minutes: recommended steep time for “Charleston Green.” Drain tea strainer, serve, and enjoy!
white or brown sugar will complement, but this tea does not take milk
Tea Tip: Taste by pouring only a quarter inch of tea into the cup.
