Quick and Easy Chocolate Cherry Scone Recipe

These chocolate and cherry scones are great for small get-togethers in a cozy living room or after a brisk walk in the chilly winter air.
Quick and Easy Chocolate Cherry Scone Recipe
Makes 12 scones
Prep Time: 15 min.; Bake Time: 15 min.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour OR
- 2 cups Krusteaz Gluten-free all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ cup cold butter, cut into ½-inch cubes
- ¼ cup dried cherries, coarsely chopped
- 3 oz. semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup whipping cream, divided
- wax paper
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender until crumbly and mixture resembles small peas. Freeze 5 minutes.
- Add in cherries, chocolate, and ¾ cup + 2 Tbsp. cream, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough onto wax paper; gently press or pat dough into a 7-inch round (dough will be crumbly). Using a circular cutter, cut into 12 scones, gathering scraps and re-patting as necessary.
- Places scones 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush tops with remaining 2 Tbsp. cream just until moistened.
- Bake at 450°F for 13 – 15 minutes or until golden.
